The Nightwood is a culinary venture offering one-of-a-kind experiences in food. We are a private event space, creative incubator, and home to a rotating series of classes. Even in Portland's groundbreaking food scene, we felt like there was room for something totally new –immersive dining that creates a sense of community through food and design.
The Nightwood is owned and run by an all-women collective, but let's be clear: everyone is welcome! If you are as passionate about thoughtfully produced food, beautifully designed spaces, and creative collaboration as we are, then we want to get to know you. We love sharing our enthusiasm and can't wait to say, welcome to The Nightwood. Come on in!

Chef Sarah Schneider
Sarah Schneider got her start in the kitchen as a teen. After finishing culinary school in Portland, Sarah worked in groundbreaking kitchens from Foreign Cinema and Salumeria San Francisco to Marlow & Daughters in New York City. Sarah returned to Portland in 2015, when she took her place in the kitchen at Renata as sous chef and butcher. Sarah's creative energy makes us so excited to have her as our Kitchen Queen.

ADELSHEIM VINEYARD WAS FOUNDED WITH AN OPTIMISTIC SPIRIT AND A LOFTY DREAM: TO CREATE WORLD-CLASS WINES IN AN UNDISCOVERED WINE REGION, THE CHEHALEM MOUNTAINS OF OREGON’S WILLAMETTE VALLEY.
Luck, fate, and a single-minded determination to make world-class wine in Oregon led David and Ginny Adelsheim to purchase their first 19 acres just outside Newberg, Oregon in 1971. Drawn to the uniqueness of the land and its proximity to Portland, it was here they decided to stake their claim, plant their first rows of Pinot noir along Quarter Mile Lane, and establish what would become the Chehalem Mountains’ first-ever winery in 1978—Adelsheim.
Since 1971, we have obsessively pursued benchmark wines that celebrate the unique bounty of our estate vineyards -- home to some of Oregon’s most diverse soil types, elevations, and exposures. As a founding winery of the Willamette Valley and Chehalem Mountains’ first winery, Adelsheim has played an instrumental role in nearly every aspect of the Oregon wine story. As leaders, we believe it is our duty to be voracious stewards of this abundant land and to rally our community in support of equity and education. Adelsheim is a LIVE certified sustainable winery, a 2017 Wine & Spirits Top 100 Winery, and the official wine sponsor of the Portland Trail Blazers.
