As a child, Bonnie Morales (née Frumkin) watched her parents prepare elaborate, traditional dinner parties as members of her family emigrated to the United States from the former Soviet Union. After picking up the newly-arrived family from the airport, they would come home to a table already covered in cold zakuski, or small dishes meant to be enjoyed with toasting and merrymaking. Pickles, Herring Under a Fur Coat, baltic sprats on pumpernickel, caviar, cod liver pashtet—the dishes were so perfectly tetris-ed across the mismatched tablecloths that it was difficult to stick a finger between two plates. Every chair in the house was drawn up to this table of abundance, and family would sit for hours, grazing and toasting and singing, before hot entrees were presented. Kachka was born from these memories of food as love and tradition, and from the pattern of coordinated toasting and eating, also known as “clink-drink-eat-repeat.”

After several years exploring global wine culture, Patrick and Leigh just knew they had to take part in the wine industry. Leigh’s our expert farmer, managing several vineyards in the valley, and Patrick’s our resident winemaker. To say we’re completely passionate about the work we’re doing is an understatement. Our whole team strives to expand our understanding of viticulture on the daily to ensure we’re producing the best products possible. Bring a picnic basket and settle down on our lawn -- get lost in our labyrinth of flourishing grape vines while sipping on a glass of spicy Syrah.
